Since gods are the products of living worlds, and the number of worlds is uncountable, it stands to reason that there are a multitude of such beings in the universe. The gods are the ultimate powers in their worlds and, for the most part, they are attached to them. They are free to travel from world to world, but unable to enter as they are repelled by the presence of ‘alien’ gods. In this way a sort of balance is maintained in the universe and the gods are not able to interfere with each other. They do, however, contend with other powers who’s origins are not terrestrial.
While the gods of the worlds are born with the creation of a new planet, there are many free roaming spirits that are born in the vast spaces in the universe. Sometimes created in the heart of a star, or expelled from a black hole they are born during the violent and energetic events that span the universe. Most often, these spirits are content to wander the universe without concern for the affairs of their worldly counterparts. Occasionally one of these beings will appear and attempt to contest the power of a guardian spirit. The free roaming spirits are not repelled in the same manner as the earthly gods but they are still limited in one manner. Without worshipers on a world they are powerless to influence it. In order to vie for power, they must try to establish themselves on a world and sway it’s inhabitants. This is usually accomplished by slipping into a world unnoticed but occasionally a power will enter into open battle with a god. This almost always ends badly for the inhabitants of a world since a battle between gods can cause great damage.
In addition to the many powers native to this universe, there are other planes of existence. Occasionally doorways are opened, accidentally or deliberately, and beings from the planes can cross over.
